Austen Paul’s Course Content Style

Austen Paul is the instructor for the Product Video Course and he’s everything you want in an instructor.

He is relatable, skilled, funny, and, most importantly, helpful.

The first two modules are focused on mindset, landing clients, and client communication. These videos are concise with Austen talking directly to the camera with accompanying graphics appearing on screen to emphasize what he’s talking about.

In the following modules, you’ll follow along with him as he shares the exact blueprints of how he works with clients in the pre-production phase and the production phases of each product. Later, you’ll watch as he edits together projects.

My favorite part of this course was getting to see exactly how Austen communicated with clients on landing these types of product videos.

  • How do I set expectations?
  • How should I price my work?
  • How do I come up with a creative the client will approve?
  • What’s the best way to request the client send me their product?
  • How can I make their product shine the best?

I had many, many questions in this new videography niche I hadn’t studied before – and Austen is the perfect person to guide you through it.

Product Videography Tips Not Available On YouTube

Daniel Schiffer makes amazing product videos and he also shows you exactly how he does it. If you haven’t checked out his channel, it’s a great resource to pick up extra skills in product videography.

But, Austen Paul’s course covers the next level of content I haven’t seen available anywhere on YouTube.

  • How do you work with glass and bottles & other materials?
  • How do you create a storyboard for a client?
  • How can you repeatedly create memorable and impactful product videos without copying other creators’ videos?
  • How can you build a custom set to accent the product?

After watching this course, I realized firsthand the meaning of “you don’t know what you don’t know”.

I had no idea how much went into product videos. I didn’t know how treating different surfaces with specific tools could drastically change the on-camera look. I didn’t expect the client communication process to be so fleshed out before shooting even began.

This course made me realize there is a reason why Austen’s videos look so, so good. And he shows you every single step of how he does it. And you won’t find this content available at this level of quality for free on YouTube.

Product Video Course VS Full Time Filmmaker and Other Filmmaking Courses

If you have Full-Time Filmmaker, Tomorrow’s Filmmakers, or other filmmaking courses, should you still consider buying Austen Paul’s Product Video Course?

If you are interested in product videography, then yes.

I’m a big fan of both Full-Time Filmmaker and Tomorrow’s Filmmakers, but neither of them covers Product Videography as in-depth as Austen Paul does in his course.

If you are looking to learn general filmmaking, then you will actually be better suited to buy Full-Time Filmmaker or one of its alternatives.

However, if you are wanting to learn product videography, this is the course for you.

Conclusion

Rating: 5 out of 5.

For those wanting to learn product videography, there is no better course available. You’ll learn the basics and advanced tactics to separate you from other filmmakers.

And, with their 30-day money-back guarantee, you can always give it a try and, if it’s not a good fit, ask for a refund.

But, I have a feeling you’ll feel like you got your money’s worth even after watching just the first two modules.
