Wishlist for Dream Studio Course

I would love to see a section where he helps take someone else through the Dream Studio process and builds a background for them. This would be a very cool “job shadow” to watch. He does do this for multiple of his own setups and they are extremely valuable to see.

Now, let’s take a deeper look into the Dream Studio Course and see who the best fit for this course is.

What is the Dream Studio Course?

Kevin Shen, the instructor of Dream Studio Course, set out to help creators make their own studio spaces so they can start creating the content they want to. Having a space that reflects who you are and what you want to talk about is a great way to build authority and show professionalism – and Kevin wants to show you how to create that space.

So, in short, the main idea is that, after you watch this course, you’ll know exactly what to do, step-by-step, to create your own Dream Studio space.

Here are benefits you can expect with Dream Studio Space:

Have your own unique filming space to film in
Learn the exact settings you need to film for your space

Course Content Style

Kevin Shen is the instructor for Dream Studio Course. The course is separated into the modules listed above and is comprised of video lessons, mixed in with PDF downloads, and videos that encourage you to complete a certain task.

Kevin does a great job keeping the content concise while remaining very conversational and easy to listen to in his delivery. He also sprinkles in bits of his own experience that help motivate creators to move past doubt and fear and move forward with creating what they set out to create.

A typical video shows Kevin on-camera explaining a concept and then showing you exactly how he would set it up in his filming studio. He definitely likes to show you rather than just tell you, which is a great thing, as it makes learning much easier and feels much more actionable and accessible.

The main thing that separates this course for me is how smart Kevin’s process is to create your own filming space. I always love seeing a YouTuber’s cool background and wish that I could create my own. Sure, it’s easy enough to mimic their setup by rearranging my room to look like theirs, but it doesn’t feel like my own space. It feels like I’m filming in theirs. What if I could create a space that looked just as cool as theirs but was uniquely mine? That is what makes this course particularly special for me.

A Great Course For Content Creators & Filmmakers

One big question I had coming into this course is if it would truly prove valuable to me – someone who has taken a number of filmmaking and videography courses. The short answer is yes.

The best audience member for this course, in my opinion, is someone who is a content creator that doesn’t know what gear to buy, how to set up their camera and audio, and needs their own filming space. This includes educators & course creators, YouTubers, and vloggers.

For seasoned videographers and filmmakers that already know the technical side of things, you will still find value in this course, but it will be mostly in the background design section. Notably, even though I do know how to set up my camera already, I will say it was reassuring and cool to see exactly how Kevin sets his up and I still picked up a handful of tips through the process of his technical explanations.

One major area filmmakers particularly can benefit from when watching this course is how they can use it to elevate their on-location video productions. For myself, after taking this course, I see tremendous opportunity in even offering background design as a service or as a reason for increasing your rates, as you can help the client, through this Dream Studio process, create a unique space that will elevate the overall production value of the shoot. So, instead of just showing up and trying to make the location work, you can begin to intentionally design backgrounds as part of the process to make your videos look more like Masterclass’s incredible sets.

The verdict for Dream Studio Course

Rating: 5 out of 5.

If you have ever wanted your own unique filming studio, look no further. If you are a course creator, YouTube, or content creator, you will find tons of value in getting the right gear and learning how to properly set it up. Filmmakers and videographers, though, will benefit particularly from the background set design sections, providing you with tons of opportunities to improve production value on your own work or on client work.

Finally, with their 30-day money-back guarantee, you can always give it a try and, if it isn’t a good fit, ask for a refund.

If you still aren’t sure if it’s the right fit for you, I encourage you to check out his free training on set design. You can check that out here.
